Closed Circuit Television

One of the other options provided in the High Tech center
for students with visual impairments is the Closed
Circuit Television (CCTV).
The CCTV is a color desktop electronic image
magnification system which, when connected to a computer, allows students to
read text from a book, hand written notes or illustrated material. The text
or illustration to be viewed is placed in a special device called a reading
table. The reading table magnifies the text/illustration onto the computer
screen. The CCTV also has the option of
magnifying what is being typed. One other feature is the option of black
text on white screen or white text on black screen to accommodate students
who have figure ground sensitivity or other visual conditions. With the
CCTV
and the features it provides, students with visual impairments are able
to study class material, study notes, and write class reports.
