What Methods Can Faculty Members Use to Post Accessible
Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations to Online Distance Education
Courses? Microsoft PowerPoint has been referred to as the
“killer application” for online distance education. There are
five primary ways that an instructor can post a PowerPoint
presentation to a distance education platform, as follows:...
-
Creating an Accessible HTML File From a PowerPoint
Presentation Microsoft PowerPoint is one of the most
widely-used applications in distance education. However, many
students with disabilities can have problems accessing
PowerPoint files in the context of online distance education.
Transferring these PowerPoint files to accessible HTML files
enables these students to get the content of the presentation.
Additionally, the resulting HTML files are more usable for all
students than other methods of uploading PowerPoint files.
-
Creating an Accessible Word Document Microsoft Word is one
of the most widely used word processing programs for both home
and office use. In distance education, Microsoft Word documents
are commonly used to transmit information to students. Faculty
members at institutions of higher learning routinely use
Microsoft Word to manipulate digital text, but Word documents
can also be used to deliver images, movies, charts, graphs, and
other information.
