This tutorial will show you how to log in to Blackboard to access your online class.
Use Internet Explorer or Firefox to go to bb.gcccd.edu then click the User Login button.
Note: If you don't understand how to do this step, online classes are probably not the right classes for you.
On this page, enter your Username (1) and Password (2), then click the Login button (3).
(1) Your Username is your first name, followed by a dot, then your last name. For example, if your name is Joe Smith, your username would be joe.smith
(2) The first time you use Blackboard with this username your password will be your 6-digit birthday, for example if your birthday is August 2, 1990 you would type: 080290. Once you're logged in to Blackboard, you can change your password to whatever you want it to be. If you have changed your Blackboard password in the past, use that password instead of your birthdate.
(3) Click the Login button to login.
If you reach the welcome page, you have successfully logged in and are finished with this tutorial.
If you get the message that says "An error occurred while the system was processing this login request," follow the steps below to find out your correct username and password.
If you're having problems logging in, first verify that you're using the correct username by going to the page you used to register for classes, which is called WebAdvisor. It can be found at wa.gcccd.edu. Click on the Account Information link.
Click on the What's my User ID link.
Fill in the Last Name field, then enter either your Social Security Number OR your Colleague ID, then click the Submit button.
A page will appear that shows your User ID. This User ID is what you should use as your Username in Blackboard.
(yes, I know, why can't they call it the same thing in both places?!)
Return to bb.gcccd.edu and try to log in again using the User ID you obtained from WebAdvisor.
If you reached the welcome page, congratulations! You can stop this tutorial now.
If you still get the message that says "An error occurred while the system was processing this login request," follow the steps below to find out your correct password.
Click the Forgot password? link and fill out the page that comes up and an email will be sent to you with instructions for changing your password.
Note: If Blackboard has the wrong email address for you, this won't work too well.
Contact your instructor and ask to have your password changed.
