Water & Wastewater Technology

Cuyamaca's innovative Water & Wastewater Technology Program provides pre-employment training as well as advanced courses in water and wastewater technology for those wishing career advancement.

Courses prepare students for certification examinations administered by the State of California as well as those administered by professional associations within the water and wastewater industry.

Current instructors are experienced water and wastewater professionals, expert and up-to-date in best-of-breed industry practices. Classes are built around practical examples of real-world scenarios, demonstrations, and field trips whenever possible to maximize understanding of subject matter. Internships are available, too.

Recent News about the Water and Wastewater Technology Program

New Water & Wastewater Technology Program Coordinator: Beginning Fall of 2013, the Water and Wastewater Technology Program is now under the direction of a new Program Coordinator, Joe Young. Mr. Young recently retired from a 35 year career with Helix Water District, where he had worked in both the Engineering Dept. and in Operations, the last 18 years as Helix's System's Operation Manager. Mr. Young brings real world industry experience and know-how to the Water & Wastewater Technology Program.

State Grant funding has expired: The $535,000 state grant awarded to Cuyamaca College to lead a partnership of seven California community colleges to provide job training in the water and wastewater field expired in December '13. The Water & Wastewater Technology Program will be looking for additional grant funding in the coming months. More Information
