Commencement Exercises

 

Graduation 2006

Commencement Ceremony - May 2007

When:     5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007
Where:   Cuyamaca College
900 Rancho San Diego Parkway
El Cajon, CA  92019
Location: College Track
(located in the northwest corner of campus)

What you need to know:

Students who are eligible for graduation will receive a letter from the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs in mid April.  This letter will include general information regarding Commencement.

A cap and gown are required for Commencement.  The fee for the cap, gown, tassel and diploma case is $36.50 plus tax.  For those graduates who are eligible for Honor cords, the cost is an additional $7.50 plus tax.  They are yours to keep as a reminder of your graduation.  Caps and gowns will be available in various sizes and may be picked up at the College Bookstore during the following hours:

Monday - Thursday  7:30 am - 7:00 pm
Friday                    7:30 am - 2:00 pm
Saturday                7:30 am - 10:30 am

Caps and gowns:

  1. Caps and gowns may be picked up beginning May 14, 2007.
  2. Participants must pick up their caps and gowns at the College Bookstore.  The College Bookstore is located in D104.
  3. Individual and specialized graduation announcements are available at the bookstore.

Robing:

  1. Participants will robe in the Atrium of the Cuyamaca College Gymnasium at 4:30pm.  Personal belongings should be left with family or friends.  There is no lock-up area. 
  2. You are encouraged to dress in cool/comfortable clothes.  Dark shoes are recommended for this occasion.
  3. Light refreshments will be available for all graduates at the Gym Atrium.

Guests:

  1. Parking is available in the student lots #1, #2, #4 and #5.  Disabled parking will be available at staff parking lot #1 with shuttle service available to guests.
  2. Please let Poppy Bush, Disabled Student Programs & Services Specialist, know if you need any special arrangements for guests with disabilities.  Her phone number is 660-4239.
  3. Participants and faculty will follow the path to the Track.  Guests are invited to photograph the processional.

Reception:

  1. There will be a reception, sponsored by the Associated Students of Cuyamaca College (ASCC) for graduates and their guests.  Please join us under the canopies directly behind the Commencement guest seating area immediately following the ceremony.

General:

  1. Students who were invited to the Commencement Ceremony are eligible to attend, even if they are concerned about receiving a failing grade for a Spring 2007 class.  Once all grades are received and the final evaluation is done, students who did NOT pass a course will be contacted.  Meanwhile, they may participate in Commencement.
  2. If you do NOT wish to have your name printed in the Commencement program, please pick up a form in the Student Affairs Office, located in Z113 at Cuyamaca College, by April 27, 2007.

Vendors:

  1. In addition to graduation announcements, the College Bookstore will have a table displaying college mementos, snacks and drinks for purchase at Commencement.
  2. Balloonatics will be selling decorated balloon bouquets at the ceremony.
  3. California Candids Graduation Photography will be available if you are interested in ordering a professional photograph.  They can be contacted at 1-800-571-7370.
  4. Allen's Flowers & Plants will have beautiful leis and other floral tributes available for purchase at Commencement ranging from $5.00 to $15.00.
  5. CB Announcements will sell Commencement announcements and thank you cards.  To order by phone, call 800-433-0296 or order online at www.cbgrad.com.

Your Diploma/Certificate:

Grades for the SPRING 2007 semester will be submitted during finals week. We expect the grades to be official by June 15, 2007.   At that time, we will complete the final evaluation for your degree and/or certificate to ensure all requirements have been met.  If so, your degree and/or certificate will be posted to your transcript at that time.  The diplomas will then be ordered for printing and should be available by mid-July.  You will receive a post card when your transcript has been posted and another when your diploma is available for pick-up.  If you wish to have your diploma mailed, you must send a written request to:
