Coach Rob Wojtkowski is entering his twelth season as Head Basketball Coach for the Coyotes. This is Coach Wojtkowski's 22nd year coaching community college and high school basketball. Last year Coach Wojtkowski helped former Coyote players Dahir Nasser (Cal Poly Pomona), Viktor Asaciovas (San Diego Christian) & Martin Graham (Western State College Colorado) transfer to universities to continue their education and basketball careers. Besides coaching and teaching in the Exercise Science Department, each summer Coach Wojtkowski coordinates three basketball camps at Cuyamaca College for children grades 4-9th. Furthermore, Coach Wojtkowski is the Past-President for the CCCMBCA (California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association) and PCC (Pacific Coast Conference) representative to the CCCMBCA Executive Board. Coach Wojtkowski received a BS in Mathematics and a MA in Sports Psychology (Physical Education) from San Jose State University. During Coach Wojtkowski's years at SJSU, he coached basketball at both Branham and Leigh High Schools. After finishing his education at SJSU, Coach Wojtkowski was offered a position as assistant basketball coach and athletic academic advisor at San Jose City College. During Coach Wojtkowski's five years as an assistant coach, SJCC went to the State "Final Eight" Championships three times, won three Coast Conference Championships and played in the State Championship game in 1997. At SJCC, Coach Wojtkowski coached six All-State performers and numerous players that played at D-1 Universities. Besides coaching basketball at SJCC, Coach Wojtkowski helped develop the athletic academic program into one of the top programs in the state of California. Coach Justin Phillips is entering his second season as Assistant Basketball Coach for the Coyotes. After graduating and playing basketball at Rancho Buena Vista High School, Coach Phillips earned a BA in Literature at Point Loma University. Coach Phillips earned his teaching credential and MA in Education at San Diego State University. Coach Phillips recently completed a second MA in Kinesiology (Sports Psychology) at San Diego State University. Coach Phillips taught English and coordinated an AVID Program Coordinator during his four years at Hoover High School. He also trained and mentored beginning teachers for the San Diego Unified School District, before coming to community colleges. Currently he is a part-time faculty member, teaching on both the Communications and Exercise Science departments, at Cuyamaca. Coach Phillips is in charge of helping develop the perimeter players, assists in recruiting, scouting and running our summer youth basketball camps. Coach Phillips, his wife Mellissa and two sons live in San Diego.

Coach Skip Gerlek is entering his first season as Assistant Basketball Coach for the Coyotes. Coach Gerlek has coached youth basketball in East County for twenty five years. He was an asssitant varsity coach at Christian High School for three years and Head Coach the last two seasons. Coach Gerlek is in charge of helping develop the post players, assists in recruiting, scouting and game/practice statistical analysis. Coach Gerlek, his wife Victoria live in El Cajon. |
