Rachel Farris

Financial Accounting

Short Bio: Ms. Farris has worked in a number of accounting positions in business and industry where she has applied her skills to a wide array of accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, cash and bank reports, payroll and payroll tax reporting, and the preparation of financial statements. From 2001 - 2004, Ms. Farris worked as an adjunct instructor at Concordia University Wisconsin where she taught courses in Accounting Management and Principles of Management. In addition, she also provided instruction for a number of computer software programs, including QuickBooks, Peachtree, Word, and Excel. Rachel brings to the classroom a good balance of academic instruction and real-world accounting experience.

Courses at Cuyamaca: Ms. Farris teaches the introductory sequence of accounting courses at Cuyamaca College, BUS 120 Financial Accounting, in both the traditional and the "blended" format, and BUS 121 Managerial Accounting.

Short Bio: Mr. Martin has been teaching accounting at Cuyamaca College since 1982. His adjunct teaching duties also involve classes at San Diego City College where he has taught both the Financial and Managerial Accounting courses. Although retired in 2002, Mr. Martin worked for many years as a government auditor with the County of San Diego.

Courses at Cuyamaca: Mr. Martin teaches the introductory accounting course BUS 120 Financial Accounting.

Rick Pacco CPA

Financial Statement Analysis

Short Bio: Mr. Pacco is an active CPA whose practice includes tax preparation, business and financial consulting, and assisting clients with their financial statement and payroll tax reporting requirements. In addition, Mr. Pacco has been teaching finance and accounting courses as an adjunct faculty member at San Diego area schools for nearly 30 years. His teaching experience includes courses at SDSU, Grossmont College, San Diego City College, and San Diego Mesa College in addition to his responsibilities at Cuyamaca.

Courses at Cuyamaca: Mr. Pacco teaches a wide range of accounting courses, including the entire sequence of “advanced” courses that Cuyamaca College offers on a rotating basis. These include BUS 150 Individual Income Taxes, BUS 122 Intermediate Accounting, BUS 124 Auditing, and BUS 162 Analysis of Financial Statements. In addition, he teaches the introductory sequence of BUS 120 Financial Accounting and BUS 121 Managerial Accounting, and also handles BUS 129 Payroll Accounting and Business Taxes, which is typically offered in the Fall semester of each year.

Carole Quinn CPA

Short Bio: Ms. Quinn is an active CPA whose practice includes tax preparation, business consulting, and setting up accounting systems for small businesses. In addition, Ms. Quinn and her spouse owned two other businesses for specific periods during the past twenty years. While involved in those businesses, Ms. Quinn was responsible for all accounting responsibilities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, payroll, cost accounting, and the preparation of financial statements.

Courses at Cuyamaca: Ms. Quinn teaches the introductory sequence of accounting courses at Cuyamaca College, BUS 120 Financial Accounting, in both the traditional and "blended" format, and BUS 121 Managerial Accounting.

Dr. Al Taccone

Short Bio: Dr. Taccone is a Division Dean at Cuyamaca College, but over the years has enjoyed teaching accounting courses at a number of San Diego area colleges. He continues to teach at least one course per semester in addition to his administrative responsibilities at Cuyamaca College. Dr. Taccone has taught a variety of accounting, business, economics, and computer courses over 20 years at both two-year and four-year institutions. He enjoys working with students toward their educational, personal, and professional goals. In doing so, he incorporates a variety of teaching methods and learning tools, including on-line resources such as Blackboard.

Courses at Cuyamaca: Dr. Taccone teaches the introductory accounting course BUS 120 Financial Accounting. He has taught the course in the traditional format and also has developed a blended internet section which accomplishes 1.5 hours per week of class credit on line. The remaining 2.5 hours is conducted in class.
