Child Development Courses

Each school in our tech prep consortia offers a child development courses. These programs are geared to the needs of the students served by the individual school.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

High school graduates from these 9-12 school are eligible for articulation with credit in the Child Development program at Cuyamaca College and Grossmont College:

• Students are subject to all placement testing and remediation requirements.

• Students must meet all published requirements for admission to Cuyamca College and Grossmont College

• A grade of B in the identified high school course is required.

• Students must be pursuing a Certificate or AA degree in Child Development Studies.

• Students must complete at least 12 hours of college-level Child Development and Family Studies credit with a grade of B or higher from the degree plan before receiving articulated credit.

• Articulated credit is limited to 12 hours, (4 courses)

• High school courses being articulated must be taken during the junior or senior year.

• A student may receive college credit for high school courses in only one Tech-Prep program.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

There is no charge for articulated credit received under this plan. Students pay tuition for other courses.

WHAT DEGREE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED?

Students may choose the Child Development and Family Studies two-year degree plan and/or the Certificate degree.

HOW DO YOU APPLY?

• Initiate a Tech-Prep degree plan for counseling purposes with the Child Development and Family Studies department chairmen upon enrollment at Cuyamaca College.

• Complete 12 semester hours of child development and family studies college-level course work at CC within two years after graduating from high school with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on all college level coursework taken

• Bring a copy of your official high school transcript and your  College transcript to the Child Development.

• Fill out a form and have it approved by the appropriate department chairman.

WHICH COURSES ARE INCLUDED?

The plan is different for every school district and is subject to annual review and revision.
