Week 1: 2/23/09-3/1/09

 

  • Click here for directions for week one
  • Make sure your email is correct.  Click on Course Tools located below the Course Menu under Tools.   Click on Personal Information and then Edit Personal Information.  Enter the e-mail address that you want us to use for this course (one that you check often). Make sure it is correct!  Adjust your name to what you prefer to be called and put in any other information you want me to have (phone number, etc.).  Giving me your correct email is very important!  This is how we will communicate in class.  This is something you can actually do for students if you need to do this.  Make sure students fix their emails through WebAdvisor as well.

Due:  3/1/09

  • Introduce yourself on the Db and respond to another student.

  • Order your Bb developmental container or email your instructor with a container request or to let her know you already have a container.  Familiarize yourself with the faculty resources for Blackboard on www.cuyamaca.edu/tlc.

  • Enroll in Teaching with Blackboard self-paced course if you are an employee of GCCCD.

  • Navigate the course, read the Syllabus, Schedule, How Online Works, and take the Orientation Quiz.

  • Take the Do What You Are (DWYA) Personality Assessment and respond to the Db on Personality, Learning Style, and Multiple Intelligence.

  • While preparing and thinking about teaching online or hybrid, it is important to look at other teacher websites and containers.  Ask other online teachers if you can be a guest in their course.
  • Rubric to Evaluate Online Courses (use this as you build your Bb course)
  • Continue working on getting your developmental container ordered and start experimenting with the features
 

 

DUE:  3/8/09

  • Read information on the Role of the Student and the Role of the Instructor.
     

  • Respond to the Discussion Board led by your instructor this week.

Week 3: 3/9/09-3/15/09

 

  DUE:  3/15/09
  • Meet online teachers in the discussion board.
     

  • Interview an online teacher and submit your interview in assignments on Blackboard (Bb).

Week 4:  3/16/09-3/22/09

 

  Due:  3/22/09
  • Create an online syllabus.  Submit it to assignments on Blackboard and upload it to your Blackboard container.
     
  • Respond to the Discussion Board topic.
Week 5:  3/23/09-3/29/09

 

Due:  3/29/09

  • Create a content assignment or online activity and place it into your Blackboard container.
     
  • Respond to the Discussion topic for this week.
Week 6:  3/30/09-4/5/09

 

  Due:  4/5/09 (Palm Sunday--get it done before)
  • Create an online Orientation, letter, or lesson plan and upload it to Blackboard Assignments.
     
  • Respond to the Discussion topic this week.

  • Create an online Assessment and submit what you did to Assignments on Blackboard (create this quiz or test in your Blackboard container by following instructions in the online manual)
     
  • Video on creating a test in Blackboard (to be captioned soon)
     
  • Respond to the Discussion board topic this week
Week 8: 4/20/09-4/26/09

 

Due:  4/26/09

  • Create a Webpage to market your course and link it to you Blackboard Container and submit your link to Blackboard Assignments
     
  • Respond to the Discussion Board topic
     
  • Take the final survey located on Assignments under Wk 8 folder
