  • Make sure you do this after logging into your Blackboard (Bb) container.  Click on the TOOLS button on the bottom left on the course menu (navy menu on Bb to the left). Click Personal Information and then Edit Personal Information.  Enter the e-mail address that you want us to use for this course (one that you check often). Make sure it is correct!  Adjust your name to what you prefer to be called and put in any other information you want me to have (phone number, etc.).  Giving me your correct email is very important!  This is how we will communicate in class.

  • Introduce yourself on the Db and respond to another student

  • Order your Bb container and add a fake student

  • Navigate the course, read the syllabus, read How Online Works, and take the Orientation Quiz

  • Email the instructor the chapters you are most interested in leading for Leading a Discussion

  • While preparing and thinking about teaching online or hybrid, it is important to look at other teacher websites and containers.  To view a sample Blackboard container for students, log into Blackboard at http://bb.gcccd.edu.  Your login is GCCCD and your password is:  student.
  • Rubric to Evaluate Online Courses (use this as you build your Bb course)
  • Continue working on getting your sample container ordered and start experimenting with the features
  • Read Chapters 1 and 2 of Teaching Online:  A Practical Guide

  • This is a good week to skim, read, and review Engaging the Online Learner for activities and ideas to use in your classroom (optional)

  • Create content such as a learning activity or convert your on-ground lecture for online.  Submit your activity or content in the assignments on Blackboard and put is in your Blackboard container.
