The study guide for the first exam consists of a method for memorizing the course material.  Study guides for all other exams will have a word list.

I have found this method very effective for scantron type tests like the ones you will encounter in this class:

1) Read all chapters by the date they are assigned in the
syllabus.  Only read the chapter once, but take your
    time.

2) After reading the chapter, read the summary.  If you
understand all of the main points in the summary, you
are done. If not, go back and re-read the passages
    you do not fully understand.

3) A few days before the exam, prepare your study
materials.  Use flash cards or a sheet of paper to list
all of the terms in the book that are in bold or italics,
formulas, etc..Try not to write exactly what is in the
book.  Instead, condense the definitions to only the
essential words needed to understand the concept.

4) On the night before the exam, begin memorizing the
terms and the definitions you have created.  I usually
take a piece of blank paper and cover up the key
words in my notes.  Starting with the first chapter,
test yourself to see in you can name the key term for
    each definition.

5) Here is the most important part.  If you make a
mistake, make yourself return to the beginning of the
list.  Continue this technique until you can do an entire
chapter without error.  Then go on to the next
    chapter
