Web Quest Assignment

DIRECTIONS: Pick a prominent woman who lived from 1865 to the present.
Do a web search to find information about her life.  Do not use online encyclopedias or online reference books. Find 3 (three) scholarly websites pertaining to this individual

Answer the following:

1) List each of the three websites giving the full URL of each

2) What search engine did you use?

3) Describe the type of information on each site.  Summarize the information

4) Evaluate the ease of use of each site

5) What is the source of the information on the site and who is posting it to the Internet?

In other words, how do you know that the site is a scholarly one?

6) Is there anything special or particularly striking about the site?  What distinguishes it from the others?

7) Discuss three new things that you learned from each of the three sites.

8) Upon concluding the project write a brief appraisal to be included in the end of your report discussing (a) your assessment of the most important thing you learned from the assignment (b) your appraisal of the value of conducting research on the Internet

The report should be a minimum of three to maximum of five pages. The report is to be double-spaced and typed in font 12 or 14 (no larger).  Print sources are not acceptable sources. Online reference books are not acceptable sources.  This is an Internet research project.  The report must contain citation of Internet sources within the body of the paper.  Do not put your report in a folder.  Your topic must be chosen by March 11.  The paper is due April 22.  Students will briefly share a portion their research findings with the class (3 minutes maximum) in order to obtain the full 15 bonus points.
