Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to: 

•  stimulate students in making sense of the world around them
• grant students practice in the research process by having them use several mediums to conduct the research,
• evaluate the relevance of each source, and apply the gathered evidence to their chosen argument
• provide extra practice in the writing process (prewriting/exploring, composing/drafting, revising, and editing)
• have students write essays using multiple rhetorical methods of writing at once
• have students think and write objectively
• encourage students to continue using the MLA standards for formatting and citations
