Purpose: This research guide has been developed by your instructor and librarian to help you complete your  assignment.

ASSIGNMENT:  Choose a piano sonata or symphony from the classical or early romantic period and prepare a written analysis of  one movement of it. The movement should either be in Sonata form or Rondo form.  Get a copy of a recording of this movement and prepare copies of the analysis for everyone in class.  Make an oral presentation of this to the class noting any unusual variations from the traditional forms or unusual chord progressions.  Be prepared to answer questions about your chosen piece.
