Flartoolkit is an impressive tool that processes a video input stream and performs some realtime pattern recognition to generate a 3D model overlayed onto the video. General Electric uses this for one of their web-based promotional ads. Check it out. It requires a webcam and microphone for the full effect, and you'll need to print out the special pattern that's required. Check out the Flartoolkit project site.
