Home of Bern University where Einstein worked from1903 to 1905.  This town is renowned for its elaborate fountains which are located in the middle of the narrow streets about every 150 feet on the major roadways. Many of the fountains date from 1504.  Two examples are the Gerechtigkeitsbrunnen or Justice Fountain in which a victorious female figure of Justice tramples on the severed heads of assorted wrongdoers.
