Tree Surgery and
Specialized Pruning Techniques
1 Units (1 hours lecture, .5 hours laboratory)
Prerequisite: None This class will explore the
concepts and procedures of specific pruning techniques
for various ornamental and fruit trees to influence
flowers, fruit and growth. Response to pruning is
predictable and can be a management tool. Cabling,
bracing, cavity repair, injury from failure treatments,
crown cleaning versus crown thinning and topping
alternative like crown reduction and restoration.
Students will learn practical application of pruning
theories and principles.
