How to Become a Mystery Shopper
Mystery shopping is an excellent way to earn extra money and have fun. A Mystery Shopper receives assignments from companies that do business evaluations. Potential assignments may include evaluation of restaurants, retail stores, banks, gas stations, theaters, or other entertainment events. At the conclusion of the visit, a written report is completed. This course provides an overview of how Mystery Shopping works, what types of assessment forms are used, do's and don'ts of completing an assignment and how to get into the "Shopper's Network." To be a successful  Mystery Shopper students must have access to a personal computer. Bring a sack lunch.

How to Become a Notary Public
New and previously commissioned notaries with the education and skills to pass the state proctored examination, detect fraud, and become successful in a new career. There is a growing need for notaries in the expanding financial, real estate, business and law professions. Become a valuable employee or own your own business. This class meets the state qualifications for new applicants and notaries that are renewing their commissions. Students will receive a state approved certificate of completion for the class in order to take the State proctored notary examination.
Instructor is from the California School of Notary Public and is a California Commissioned Notary Public and a Loan Document Signing Specialist. State proctors will allow all students to take the proctored exam after the class is completed. Bring a sack lunch.

Loan Document Signing Specialist
California's real estate industry needs notaries who would like to become Loan Document Signing Specialists. In this class, your instructor will present information on the duties and responsibilities of the Notary Public entering the loan industry as a Loan Document Signing Specialist. Upon completion of the class, you will be eligible to take an open book certification exam during the last hour of class, and receive a Certificate of Completion. Prerequisite: attending, or be in the process of obtaining, a California State Notary Public license. Bring a sack lunch.

This class shows you the methods professional investigators use to obtain their information. Learn where to find, how to search for, and how to utilize public records and databases including assest searches, background investigations, skiptracing, public recorrds and pretexts. Who should attend? Anyone interested in adoption, birth records, genealogy, or investigation, Lawyers, bill collectors, business owners, investigators, journalists, landlords, paralegals, or researchers will also benefit. In California, a Private Investigator license is not needed to conduct your own investigations.

Learning Theories and Learning Styles
This course will provide an overview of learning theories relevant to career and technical education that emphasizes the importance of teaching not only technical skills but higher order thinking, problem solving, and collaborative skills to prepare workers entry into and advancement in the workplace. Learning styles will be defined and the importance of understanding the difference among learning styles to enhance student learning. Career and technical education instructors will gain knowledge of how to incorporate constructivist/ contextual learning theory and accommodate various learning styles when designing their curriculum.

Teaching Methods and Strategies
This course will provide faculty with the teaching tools needed to engage students in learning and increase student mastery of subject matter. Six teaching methods will be covered: project-based learning , work-based learning, direct instruction, cooperative learning, and service learning. Strategies for integrating academic skills will be addressed and how they apply to the adult learner. Emphasis will be placed on how to integrate the disciplines of Math, Science, and English Language Arts into career and technical education.

Critical Elements of Course Structure
This course will provide an overview of how to create a syllabus, basic elements of course structure, including student learning outcomes (SLOs), and their application. Practical exercises in developing syllabi and SLOs will be presented. Participants will gain knowledge of how to develop course objectives, measurable student learning outcomes, and appropriate assessment methods. Various types of testing, assessment methods, and rubrics will be reviewed.
