The following ESL classes are offered by Cuyamaca College in conjunction with Cajon Valley Union School District's Community Based English Tutoring (CBET) Family Literacy Program. CBET provides daycare for children of participants (ages 1-12) during hours of class instruction. Please call (619) 593-5209 or more information. Registration is ongoing.
English as a Second Language
(CESL 0010)
This beginning level ESL course emphasizes oral communication. The course focuses on the development of listening and speaking skills needed to succeed in the classroom, outside the classroom, and at work. This course also includes expanded development of reading and writing skills, and an introduction to basic grammar within the context of life and employability skills.

Healthcare Workplace Communications II

This multi-level Vocational English-as-a-Second Language (VESL) course is designed for the intermediate top advanced language level student whose first language is other than English. The course focuses on expanding and developing the skills learned in English at Work: Healthcare Workplace Communication I. Student will improve fluency, accuracy, and SCANS competencies in order to communicate more effectively in the workplace. Listening, speaking, reading, writing skills for the workplace are integrated within controlled grammar and sentence structures. The course includes English vocabulary development related to equipment, supplies, common tasks, and safety procedures in the health industry.
