More information on taking Credit/Non-credit Classes

Most credit and non-credit classes count for Professional Development. The only requirement is that they not count for salary advancement. You might consider taking a class here at Cuyamaca College (see district class offerings) or through Community Learning (see the Preview catalog.)

Building a Library Research Web Site

With the Internet, the whole process of library research has reached a new level of complexity. What happens now as your students do their research from home via the Internet?  What happens when general search engines like Yahoo cannot reach what some call the “Invisible Web”? How can you prepare students for library research, especially those students for whom the Internet is not their “second nature” or for those who believe the Internet has all the answers?

Take this opportunity to spend two hours with Jeri Resto.  Jeri will work with you to build a web-based information competency module. Your customized website module will contain links to print and e-resources relevant to your assignments. To set up an appointment, email jeri.resto@gcccd.edu.  You may look at examples @ www.cuyamaca.edu/guides

Please note: If adjunct faculty members do not fulfill all of the their Professional Development hours during Professional Development Week, they must submit to the Professional Development Administrator’s office an “Individual Activity Proposal” by the end of Professional Development week (available in both PDF or Word formats).

Adjunct instructors must complete the pre-approved individual activities by the last Friday of September for fall semester and the last Friday of February for spring semester.  At this time instructors will submit to the Professional Development Administrator’s office a “Completed Individual Planned Activities” (available in both PDF or Word formats).

Late hires, please contact the Professional Development Administrator’s office.
