Building a Library Research Web Site
CC-S-820
With the Internet, the whole process of library research has reached a new level of complexity. What happens now as your students do their research from home via the Internet? What happens when general search engines like Yahoo cannot reach what some call the “Invisible Web”? How can you prepare students for library research, especially those students for whom the Internet is not their “second nature” or for those who believe the Internet has all the answers?
Take this opportunity to spend two hours with Jeri Resto. Jeri will work with you to build a web-based information competency module. Your customized website module will contain links to print and e-resources relevant to your assignments. To set up an appointment, please
contact Jeri Resto at jeri.resto@gcccd.edu. You may look at examples @ http://www.cuyamaca.edu/guides

Teaching with Blackboard
Online Course
CC-S-830
This course will take you step-by-step through the basics of building an online course in Blackboard. The hands-on exercises in each module will help guide you through the development process.
The course content is divided into several small sections so that you will be able to progress through the course at your own pace. Not everyone will want or need to complete the entire course. Some faculty may have already been teaching with Blackboard and want to review specific areas of interest in the course. This course is structured to allow faculty to get the information they need, when they need it. The content will always be available for reference and review.
We recommend that faculty who have not taught with Blackboard before complete the entire course and earn a Certificate of Completion.
The
syllabus provides additional information about the course.
Please attend an orientation during Professional Development Week or after that week email Rhonda Bauerlein at
rhonda.bauerlein@gcccd.edu to sign up for this course
