Roy Whitaker

Instructor Biography:
Roy
Whitaker is a graduate student at Claremont Graduate
University. He’s in the philosophy of religion and theology
doctoral program. He holds two master’s degrees: one from
Harvard University (2002) and other from Princeton Theological
Seminary (2000). He has traveled, studied, and worked in
Jamaica, India, and Germany. His areas of interest include
comparative religion, 19th and 20th century continental
philosophy of religion, philosophies of liberation, pragmatism,
and cultural theory. He teaches courses such as World
Religions, Logic, and Critical Thinking.

Class Description
:
Introduction to critical thinking with
emphasis on analyzing and constructing both inductive
and deductive arguments. Critical reasoning will be
applied to a variety of situations such as making sound
decisions, evaluating claims and assertions, and
avoiding fallacious reasoning.

Started:
Three REQUIRED on-campus Saturday
meetings (no
exceptions):
orientation (1/24/09), midterm (3/28/09), and final
(5/30/09). Orientation and exams will be in F-710 room
from 1:00pm - 3:00pm
