The Course for Spring 2008:

The course includes the following:
1. Online learning objectives, PowerPoint lectures, and chapter glossaries
2. Online audio flashcards and crossword puzzles for reviewing terms and information
3. CD presentations and videos
4. Online quizzes (both open-book and timed, closed-book)
5. Two exams (can be taken online or on-campus)
6. Posted online discussions with both the instructor and other students about subject content
7. Writing Assignments: Web site reports or InfoTrac research exercise (with instructor feedback)
8. Optional online student presentations (posted for all in the class to view)
9. Complete and detailed online student progress records that are constantly updated throughout the course

Grading:
Your final grade will be based on:
- scores from all online open and closed book quizzes (weekly deadline)
- quality and quantity of participation in online discussions (weekly deadlines)
- written reports (weekly deadlines)
- scores on two closed-book exams
- optional written InfoTrac exercises (1 per chapter)
- optional online presentations
Important Considerations:
This course demands independent learning, self-discipline, and TIME-MANAGEMENT SKILLS.
* Time:
Online work can be done anytime (24/7), but there are weekly deadlines and the above mention 3 on-campus meetings.
Plan to devote much more time to it than you do a lecture class:
A lecture class meets 3 hours per week with at least an additional 3 - 6 hours of homework per week.
Plan on spending an equivalent amount on this class.
There are weekly quizzes, discussion posts, and writing assignments.
* This course demands that you already possess good computer knowledge and skills.
* Good writing skills are essential.
