The Course for Spring 2010:

* Note that this online course has an on-campus orientation (see below). If you are unable to attend the on-campus orientation, you will be required to take and pass an orientation quiz so that you fully understand the requirements and expectations of the course before any course work can begin. The quiz with instructions will be available within our Blackboard classroom when you first enter on the first day of the semester. No need to email me if you are a registered student and simply missed the on-campus orientation. Just complete the online orientation quiz instead.

(On-campus orientation Sat., 1/23, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm in Room F508)

This course uses the online program "Blackboard" as a "virtual classroom." Instead of coming to on-campus classes, the course is held online and can be assessed anytime day or night from anywhere. The only on-campus meeting is an orientation. The online classroom experience is based on a  printed textbook, CD of case study videos, online multimedia, and online discussions.

The course includes the following:

1. Online video lectures by the textbook author

2. Online learning objectives, chapter outlines, chapter glossaries

3. Online flashcards, crossword puzzles, and practice quizzes for reviewing terms and information

4. Online PowerPoint presentations and CD videos

5. Online quizzes (both open-book and timed closed-book)

6. Web site reports (from hundreds of sources) or InfoTrac activities (both with instructor feedback)

7. Posted online discussions with both the instructor and other students

8. Optional online student presentations (posted for all to view)

9. Grading system: clear and available with constantly updated scores and totals
