Dr. Doyle received a B.A. in Psychology from the Santa Clara University in 1969, and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1974. After teaching as an adjunct psychology instructor at Grossmont College, San Diego State University, and MiraCosta College, he became a founding member of the full-time faculty at Cuyamaca College in 1978 (where he remains today). He continued to teach at San Diego State University as an adjunct for the next 25 years. His courses have included Introductory Psychology, Human Sexuality (both lower and upper division courses), Developmental Psychology, Individual Adjustment, Learning, Perception, and Abnormal Psychology. At SDSU, he was an interim director of graduate teaching assistants (TAs), participated in an experimental interdisciplinary program called "Coordinated Freshman Studies," and taught in the "Honors Psychology" program. Dr. Doyle has taught Native-Americans at the Viejas Reservation in Alpine, CA, and Camp Pendleton Marines at MiraCosta College. At Cuyamaca College, he served as Chair of the Behavioral Sciences and has coordinated psychology discipline since the college's opening.
Besides his continued commitment to teaching, Dr. Doyle has authored an Instructor's Manual and lecture transparencies for Rod Plotnik's Introductory Psychology textbook. Always interested in using new technology (he taught in the Telecourse program for 15 years), Dr. Doyle is now developing new interactive, multimedia approaches to teaching and is exploring and developing alternative delivery methods such as online learning. He has published six versions of the interactive multimedia project, PowerStudy for Introduction to Psychology, which is now included in many Introductory Psychology courses. In future versions, the project is planned to become a complete multimedia psychology text available in CD, DVD, downloadable/installable, USB flash drive, and online formats. |
