Your Personal Student Drive on Cuyamaca Network
Home
About Us Your Student Account Guidelines

An area of 20 Mega Bytes ( 20 MB ) private space on the College Network is assigned to each student's account . The default location of this space is: "User Name$ on 'coyote21' (H:)." For example, using the User Name of " johnsmith ," the default location of this space would be: johnsmith on 'coyote21' (H:).

Students can save their documents on this space. They can retrieve their saved files at any networked computer at Cuyamaca College . Students will have access to their private space for the entire semester. Once the semester is over, this space will be taken from the student and all the files on it, will be erased.

Each semester the student registers at Cuyamaca College, they will have access to their own personal space on the network. Students who need copies of their documents they saved on the College Network, should copy their files to a removable drive ( USB flash drive) and or send via e-mail before the current semester is over. ( We DO NOT have CD burners).

While more than 200 word processing documents of normal file size can be saved on 20 MBs of space, just a few graphic, music files or multimedia files can quickly consume 20 MB of disk space.

*Note: Since students only have access to their personal drive at the college, it is advisable to save most work on a removable drive, i.e. USB flash drive or memory stick.

*Note: If a student's personal disk space is full, this may cause the student to lose their ability to send and receive e-mail. Periodically, check to see how much disk space you have left. You may need to erase unwanted files or move them to a removable drive. If you should need help in doing this, please see an Open Computer Lab Assistant.
