Title III - Year 3:  Technology Integration

 
Activity Director: Maria Mendoza-Bautista

SPECIFIC TASKS TO BE COMPLETED
 

1.1 Fully implement online staff development 

Activity- Attend Staff Development Committee and Online Committee meeting in Fall 2005 for consensus on topic
Activity- Identify pilot online resource
Activity- Find continual semester online staff development support
Activity- Streaming video possibilities

 

1.5 Expand faculty training to integrate instructional strategies using technology into their classes. 

Activity- Purchase 5 new computers for faculty upgrades
Activity- Continue training and staff support for BlackBoard & WebCt
Activity- Acquire/use closed-captioning training software
Activity- Develop new training for ADA/508 compliance- closed-captioning
Activity- Develop job description for TLC trainer position (possibly hire)

 

Title III - Year 3:  Student Services & Instruction

1.4 Expand faculty training about high-risk students and how to best meet their needs.

Activity- Retention Specialist to attend Senate and Instructional Council meetings for dissemination of services offered via in class workshops
Activity- Produce a “Retention Tools” booklet for students and faculty, distribute during special events on campus.
Activity- Increase the number of student ed plans
Activity- Tie-in retention activities to college hour and ASCC events

Activity- Support High School Parent night event during Spring 2006

 

1.6 Expand integration of learning communities in basic skills courses. 

Activity- Continue linking courses to study skills courses (ie. PDC)
Activity- Survey on learning communities
Activity- Encourage LC stipend projects

 

1.7 Offer an open entry/open exit basic math course. 

Activity- On Hold

 

1.8 Expand Retention Support Program for students on academic probation. 

Activity- Continue probation counseling
Activity- Support early intervention (ie. Early Alert, mailers, phone calls) via counseling department.
Activity- Pilot one section of each: Math, ESL, English for early intervention strategies
Activity- Identify list of Basic Skills Courses
Activity- Lunch Forum: Addressing the needs of high-risk students (faculty to faculty)

 

1.9 Review basic skills courses, with recommendations for content changes to curriculum.
