Cuyamaca College faculty and project staff established
Participants explored learner-centered strategies for empowering students to become active and responsible in their own education. “In 18 years of teaching, this was BY FAR the most valuable workshop I have attended, I can’t wait to start implementing these techniques in my classroom,” says Pat Garity, automotive professor. Dr. Yvonette Powell, counselor in the DSPS department says, “The On Course workshop was a very unique workshop because it looks at the total participant. This was one of the greatest skills learned. Instead of just looking at time management, goal setting, and other general issues, this workshop taught us how to help the student look at the individual internalized issues they are dealing with. I would recommend this workshop to anyone.”
Dr. Downing’s teaching, writing, and consulting are all guided by his belief that “the greatest mission of any educational institution is empowering its students to live rich, personally fulfilling lives.”
