David Dominguez is excited to continue as the Head Women’s Track and Field Coach for the 2009 season.  He hopes to continue the success of the student athletes at Cuyamaca College as he enters his fifth year of coaching.

Before joining Cuyamaca, Coach Dominguez spent two years as the assistant cross country and track coach at Alliant International University.  At Alliant, he coached the mid distance runners and produced three All Americans.  Previous to his time at Alliant, he also coached at Alfred State and Erie Community College in New York.  As the assistant coach at Alfred State, Coach Dominguez produced five All Americans.  At Erie Community College he led six runners to the National Championship and one runner became a National Champion.

As a collegiate athlete, Coach Dominguez started out at Alfred State where he was a seven time All American.  He then continued his career at Kansas State where he placed fourth at the Big 8 Championship in the 1000m, and was in the top twenty at the Big 12 Championship, both in 1996.  Coach Dominguez’s personal records include a time of 30:02 for the 10K in 1999, and a time of 1:50 for the 800m in 2000.

At Cuyamaca, Coach Dominguez hopes to help his runners meet not only their athletic goals, but their academic goals as well.
