Program Review

Program review at Cuyamaca College serves as the major vehicle for unit-level planning, evaluation, and improvement.

In the 2017-18 academic year, the co-chairs from College's four program review committees met to discuss ways in which program review could be better aligned with college-wide planning and across the major functional areas (instruction, student services, and administration). In fall 2017, program review templates were aligned across all areas of the College and the integrated timeline was also aligned for program review and resource requests.

During the same year, the College began its inquiry and design phases of its participatory governance redesign process. The process resulted in a new participatory governance structure intended to create efficiencies, enhance communication, and bring together groups with similar functions. As part of the redesign, the College's four program review committees (Instructional Program Review and Planning Committee, Student Services Program Review and Planning Committee, Administrative Services Program Review and Planning Committee, and Executive Program Review and Planning Committee) are coming together to design a more efficient structure, in the form of a single body to guide the college-wide program review process, to be implemented in spring 2019.

While this new program review body is being formed, the program review process continues. Based on feedback from the 2017-18 Integrated Planning Survey, the co-chairs of the four existing program review committees made recommendations for improving the program review templates, timelines, and process. Thus, the following parameters apply to program review in the 2018-19 academic year:

  • The deadline for all program reviews completed in 2018-19 (across all functional areas) will be due on a single date: February 11, 2019
  • All major resource requests will be due on a single date: February 11, 2019
  • Data for each instructional program review will continue to be provided by the Institutional Effectiveness, Success, and Equity Office (accessible via this page)
  • Training will be offered leading up to the program review deadline for program review authors, on achievement and learning outcome data integration, and on resource requests completion
  • All program reviews will be submitted online - Word versions of the templates are posted below in draft form.
  • Non-instructional areas (student and administrative service areas and executive offices) will complete a program review annual update
  • Instructional programs will continue on the existing 4-year program review cycle

Below is a list of upcoming workshops for instruction and student services program review authors:

  • Tuesday, October 30th 9:00am-10:00am in E210
  • Friday, November 2nd 10:00am-12:00pm in E210
  • Tuesday, December 4th 10:30am-12:30pm in E210
