What to Include in Your online Syllabus

  • more detailed and clearer guidelines than in a F2F syllabus
  • organize into easily found topics with major headings
  • spread parts of the syllabus throughout Bb in appropriate, relevant places
  • mention misconceptions about online classes
  • include drop policy, participation, grading, due dates, penalties, point amounts,criteria for quality, late assignment policy, Db policies
  • periods you will be (or not be) online (everyday, weekends)
  • generally how your online course works - including some Bb tips
  • procedure and expectations for all writing assignments
  • consider having students sign your syllabus (digitally) as a contract
  • make sure the syllabus is printable and downloadable - not excessive graphics
