COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a computer literacy course designed to develop a basic knowledge of computers and information systems. The broad overview of topics includes computer organization, hardware and software systems, and application software. The lab portion of the course will consist of hands-on problem-solving using tools such as Microsoft Office 2003, which contains word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation graphics software. |

COURSE OBJECTIVES

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION The class will consist of lectures and demonstrations plus additional time for the students to work independently to accomplish their homework assignments. METHODS OF EVALUATION Their will be quizzes covering the chapters of the Discovering Computers text. Each will be administered in class each week following the opportunity for discussion of the chapter in question. Each quiz will be worth 10 points. No make-up quizzes will be given on the Discovering Computers text. Each homework assignment will be evaluated and may earn up to 10 points. Late work will be accepted. Each application exam, (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint), may earn up to 100 points. The total number of point possible may vary slightly as the reality of the semester unfolds.
