U P !  P R O G R A M  O V E R V I E W

for FORMER FOSTER YOUTH who want to attend college

UP! supports students who are former foster youth or individuals raised in kinship care with personalized help, financial assistance, life-skills coaching, mentoring, housing referrals, and many other services in their efforts to obtain a college education.

Our goal is to provide support and services to help overcome the extra obstacles that may be holding foster youth back from attending college, obtaining a certificate or degree, and acquiring marketable career technical skills.

UP! SERVICES

UP! services may include:

• Academic, Personal, and Career counseling case management
• Financial Aid case management
• Community/basic needs resource referrals such as: housing, Medi-Cal, food stamps, etc.
• Assistance applying for Financial Aid opportunities such as Chafee grant and scholarships
• Assistance applying for EOPS or CARE
• Life skills seminars
• Cohort building events and orientation
• Mentoring

LIMITED AVAILABILITY

Due to state budget concerns, UP! offers limited program admission.  Please stop in or call the EOPS program to inquire.

TO APPLY

• Complete the EOPS application process and submit the required forms to the EOPS Office. 
• Apply for FAFSA and the Board of Governor's Waiver at the Financial Aid Office.
