Survivor: Pioneer Skills in the Computer World

The Heritage of the Americas Museum is the backdrop to see and understand survival skills developed all over the world.  In this course, you will build a model shelter, make fire by friction, rig and lift a weight using a rope and pulleys.  You will follow an orienteering course using a compass and learn to use a lever and fulcrum, saw with a 2-person cross-cut saw and use a wooden yoke to carry a burden.  You will hear campfire stories and learn about the Oregon Trail.  The course will end with a hobo cookout.  Bring drinking water and a hat.  Entering Grades 5th through 9th.
