|In recognition of the need to encourage creative young talent to pursue careers in floriculture, the Joseph Shinoda Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established. A non-profit organization, its sole purpose is to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students who have chosen to prepare for careers in the flower industry. It is only through education that the interests and potential of young people can be developed in order to meet the expanding demands of the floral industry. Check back in early 2014 for next year's scholarship information|
|Scholarships are available for students who will be continuing at their present college or who will be transferring to a four year college. Check back later for information about the 2014 scholarships|
Each year the San Diego County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee selects several students who are enrolled or entering college as scholarship recipients. Students entering or attending a two-year or four-year college or university are eligible. Applicants must be pursuing a course of study in agriculture or a closely related field, and they must have a permanent residence in San Diego County. Membership in the Farm Bureau is not required.
Scholarship applications will be available in Dec. 2013 for the 2014-15 academic year.
