The Cuyamaca College Dreamkeepers program is accepting applications.

Developed with support from the Wal-Mart Foundation and with additional fundraising by The Foundation for Grossmont & Cuyamaca Colleges, the Dreamkeepers Emergency Financial Assistance program at Cuyamaca College can provide assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies.  Dreamkeepers assistance was created to help students stay in college and meet their educational goals, ultimately, securing a better financial future.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Cuyamaca College.

  • Demonstrate satisfactory academic progress by maintaining a minimum overall 2.0 GPA for all completed college coursework.

  • Be seeking a declared certificate, degree or transfer objective.

  • Be able to document an extreme personal/financial emergency (emergencies usually consist of unusual expenses that are non-recurring).

ELIGIBLE EXPENSES

Utilities, Housing/Rent, Food, Transportation, Medical/Dental, Child Care.

INELIGIBLE EXPENSES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

School Tuition & Fees, Books & Supplies, Legal Expenses, Nicotine or any other Control Substance, Entertainment, Internet or Cell Phone Service, Cable, Personal Loans, Car Payments.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Complete and Submit the Dreamkeepers Budget Planning Worksheet* (When you submit your documentation of emergencies*)

  2. Submit your Statement of Need** (You MUST clearly state your need in terms of why you need Dreamkeepers funds.)

  3. Submit documentation of emergencies*

  4. Complete and submit an on-line Dreamkeepers Application
      *Worksheet and documentation can be uploaded to the online application or turned into the Financial Aid Office.

AWARD AND PAYMENT PROCESS

Complete applications will normally be processed 24 hours after submission.  If approved for funding, payment will be made payable to a third party and available for pickup at the Cashier Office in approximately 72 hours after approval.  Payment type will be determined by the college on a case-by-case basis.  The maximum award is $500.

We are located in the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office (Building 300) at the Student Services Center. Walk-in appointments are pending availability so we encourage you to call to make an appointment.
