Background
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago.   Graduating from High School in 1987 I decided it was time for a change of scenery and headed for San Diego State University.  There I remained until I graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and a minor in Engineering.  As if this wasn't enough punishment  I decided to stay and finally finish school (or so I thought) after graduating with a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics Education from SDSU.  Finally, in May 2010 I completed a lifelong dream of obtaining a doctorate degree by graduating from SDSU with a doctorate in  Educational Leadership with an emphasis on Community Colleges.

I worked as a 'Freeway Flyer' for two years teaching part-time at Cuyamaca College, San Diego City College, MiraCosta College, Palomar College and San Diego State University.  In August 1997 I was hired at Cuyamaca College for a full time, tenure-track position in mathematics.

I love my job and continue to stay involved through many professional organizations such as CMC3 South (California Mathematics Council for Community Colleges South), AMATYC (American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges), CMC3 (California Mathematics Council for Community Colleges Nouth), NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) and MAA (Mathematical Association of America).  I am currently the Exhibit Chair for CMC3 South and a California Delgate for AMATYC.  I attend many of the conferences offered by all of these organizations.

I am extremely blessed to have an amazing husband and two children.   Our son, Charlie begins second grade this year and our daughter, Katie, born is excited about going to Kindergarten.  In my spare time I enjoy hiking, swimming, camping, and traveling.
