This website reports Cuyamaca College Library's attempt to embed the teaching and assessing of specific student learning outcomes (SLO) called information competency skills within the framework of the college curriculum.
Educational objectives of Cuyamaca Library Cuyamaca College Library places students at the center of its efforts and value structure, and emphasizes academic excellence through teaching library information competency skills. Educational Objectives of the Cuyamaca College General Education “Courses shall motivate students to develop information competency skills to improve the quality of education and everyday life through the selective use of information technology and information resources. Students will be able to identify information resources, apply appropriate tools to acquire information, formulate a search strategy, evaluate information and recognize alternative information sources. This can be achieved through various activities including but not limited to : using computers, periodical/journal research, internet research, web-home projects and library research orientations a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and to have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.”
