The California Guided Pathways Project will run from 2017-2019.
Colleges will send teams to six institutes, where they will receive training and structured time to plan for campus work to create clear pathways to high-quality credentials and develop the change management strategies needed to accomplish this goal. College teams will be made up of five to seven people including the president, a team facilitator, and other stakeholders.
The Guided Pathways Workgroup is the college group that is coordinating the design and implementation of Guided Pathways for Cuyamaca College. The workgroup chair is Pat Setzer, and the membership includes a faculty, classified staff and administrators from all segments of the college. In addition, much of the actual work will be assigned to our standing committees and councils.
One thing is clear: implementing Guided Pathways will require the skills and efforts of everyone at the college. This cannot be a top-down, administrator-driven initiative – to succeed it will need the expertise and good ideas of every constituency group. Also, there is no single blueprint for Guided Pathways that can simple be imposed on a college – rather, we have broad principles that will guide us as we build our own reforms to better serve our students.
There will be many opportunities to engage this work in the months and years ahead. The first step will be to attend the Professional Development workshops and activities in Flex Week to learn more about the California Guided Pathways Project, and what it will mean for our college.
