Creating a Successful Winery Business

Fee: $50

The class will discuss various topics for county residents who want to start a new winery business. Topics will include an overview of the size and scope of wine worldwide and in San Diego county, what the county boutique winery ordinance allows and does not allow, general and specific means of sales and marketing of wine, cash flow cycle from planting to sales, which varietals might work well locally, maintaining a vineyard, and how to hire employees.

Your First Vineyard

Fee: $60

Are you interested in learning about planting and growing your own vineyard? This course takes you through steps of evaluating your property and deciding how to lay out a vineyard, how much of the land can be planted, how many rows you can have and the best direction to plant them, what variety of grapes are appropriate for your site, a budget to develop the site including purchasing and planting of vines, and what to expect the first 2 to 3 years.
