Introduction to Green Building Careers
Two FREE program offerings for eligible participants! Dates: Jan-Feb, 2012 and May-Jun, 2012.
Cuyamaca College is again offering a FREE one-month overview course entitled "Introduction to Green Building Careers."
This one-month, 120-hour program includes Basic Construction Principles, Environmental Training, Introduction to Green Building, Energy Fundamentals, Energy Retrofits & Efficiency, Water Efficient Building & Retrofits, Solar Hot Water Installation & Design, Solar Electricity Installation & Design, Work Readiness and Work Experience. The program will prepare students to enter technical training programs and/or entry level positions within Green Building.
Effective Green Building practices reduce energy use, energy uncertainty and renewable energy in today's world of climate change and high energy prices. It is critical that we use as few fossil fuels as possible to future proof against unpredictable and rapidly rising prices.

Be able to read & speak English, 18 years of age or older, registered for selective service (males only), and proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
Students who successfully complete the program will receive the following:
- CPR/First Aid/AED and OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certifications
- Grossmont-Cuyamaca College Certificate of Participation for successful course completion
- $300 stipend
Begin the process now!
Step 1: Attend an Introduction to Center Services (Orientation) at your local One-Stop Career Center to become a Career Center Member and receive next steps. Inform the Career Center that you are interested in the Green Building Program at Cuyamaca College.
Step 2: Attend a mandatory Orientation Session at Cuyamaca College, Room L-101. You must register for the Orientation Session via the registration form below.
Important Mandatory Orientation Dates (you need only to attend one):
For the Jan 23-Feb 16, 2012 program, register for one mandatory orientation only. Morning and evening options:
- Jan. 4, 2012 - 5:30pm-7:30pm.
For the May 7-Jun 4, 2012 program, register for one mandatory orientation only
.Morning and evening options:
- Tuesday: Feb. 7, 2012 or Mar. 6, 2012, or Apr. 10, 2012 - 9:00am-12:00 noon.
- Wednesday: Feb. 8, 2012 or Mar. 7, 2012 or Apr 11, 2012, - 5:30pm-7:30pm.
