The Cuyamaca College Dreamkeepers program is accepting applications.

Developed with support from the Wal-Mart Foundation and with additional fundraising by The Foundation for Grossmont & Cuyamaca Colleges, the Dreamkeepers Emergency Financial Assistance program at Cuyamaca College can provide assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies.  Dreamkeepers assistance was created to help students stay in college and meet their educational goals, ultimately, securing a better financial future.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Cuyamaca College.

  • Demonstrate satisfactory academic progress by maintaining a minimum overall 2.0 GPA for all completed college coursework.

  • Be seeking a declared certificate, degree or transfer objective.

  • Be able to document an extreme personal/financial emergency. (emergencies usually consist of unusual expenses that will not reoccur)

ELIGIBLE EXPENSES:

Utilities, Housing/Rent, Food, Transportation, Medical/Dental, Child Care. READ: Dreamkeepers Program Information (CLICK HERE) for more detailed information.

INELIGIBLE EXPENSES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

School Tuition & Fees, Books & Supplies, Legal Expenses, Nicotine or any other Control Substance, Entertainment, Internet or Cell Phone Service, Cable, Personal Loans, Car Payments.

HOW TO APPLY:

STEP 1Complete the Financial Aid Literacy Lesson:

Financial Aid Literacy (CLICK HERE) - This must be done first! Please send a copy of your  completion notice to ernest.williams@gcccd.edu, or bring it into the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office A300.

STEP 2 Prepare The Following:

  1. Dreamkeepers Budget Planning Worksheet (CLICK HERE)

  2. All Documentation Supporting your Emergency Request READ: (Dreamkeepers Program Information) (CLICK HERE)

  3. Statement of NeedIN YOUR STATEMENT, you must clearly state why you need Dreamkeepers funds AND the amounts you are requesting (maximum $500.00) AND what steps you will take to ensure this type of financial emergency can be addressed in the future without Dreamkeepers assistance.

STEP 3 Log-on or Create Your Dreamkeepers Account: (CLICK ON LINK), (Respond to Acknowledgment email)

Complete the Dreamkeepers Online Application Package Including:

  1. Dreamkeepers Budget Planning Worksheet

  2. Documentation Supporting Your Emergency Request

  3. Statement of Need

  4. Dreamkeepers Online Application

STEP 4 Submit Dreamkeepers Budget Planning Worksheet & Support Documents: Attach to your online application, or email to ernest.williams@gcccd.edu, or bring into the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office A300.

AWARD and PAYMENT PROCESS:

Completed applications will normally be processed within 24 hours after submission.  If approved for funding, payment will be made payable to a third party and available for pickup at the Cashier Office approximately 72 hours after approval.  Payment type will be determined by the college on a case-by-case basis.
