Dreamkeeperssm Emergency Financial Assistance Program

 A Program of Scholarship America

The Cuyamaca College Dreamkeepers program is accepting applications.

Developed with support from the Wal-Mart Foundation and with additional fundraising by The Foundation for Grossmont & Cuyamaca Colleges, the Dreamkeepers Emergency Financial Assistance program at Cuyamaca College can provide assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies.  Dreamkeepers assistance was created to help students stay in college and meet their educational goals, ultimately, securing a better financial future.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Cuyamaca College.

  • Have a minimum overall 2.0 GPA for all completed college coursework, demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.

  • Be seeking a declared certificate, degree or transfer objective.

  • Document an extreme personal/financial emergency. (emergencies usually consist of unusual expenses that will not reoccur)

ELIGIBLE EXPENSES:

Utilities, Housing/Rent, Food, Transportation, Medical/Dental, Child Care. READ: Dreamkeepers Program Information (CLICK HERE) for more detailed information.

INELIGIBLE EXPENSES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

School Tuition & Fees, Books & Supplies, Legal Expenses, Nicotine or any other Control Substance, Entertainment, Internet or Cell Phone Service, Cable, Personal Loans, Car Payments, Normal Bills.

STEPS ON HOW TO APPLY:

 STEP 1 - Complete the online Financial Literacy course session and send completion notice to ernest.williams@gcccd.edu

 STEP 2 - Complete Dreamkeepers Worksheet and include with documentation to Financial Aid Office (Attn: Dreamkeepers)

 STEP 3 - You must prepair documentation of expenses, and a statement of need that clearly describes your extreme emergency.

 STEP 4 - Complete the Dreamkeepers Application questionnaire‚ read and answer all questions before you begin you Dreamkeepers Application.

Submit Dreamkeepers Documents

 STEP 5 - Submit all documents with your Dreamkeepers Application or bring them into the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office (A300).

Dreamkeepers Acknowledgment Email

 STEP 6 - You MUST respond to the Acknowledgment email sent by Dreamkeepers once you submit your application.

For further assistance with Dreamkeepers, please call Ernest Williams at (619) 660-4537 to make an appointment. We are located in the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office (Building A300).  Walk-in appointments are pending availability, we encourage you to call and make an appointment.
