Pedro Porras has worked in the role of Chief of Water Operations for the Otay Water District since 2002. He is responsible for overseeing all sections in the Water Operations Department including Water Systems Operations; Utility Maintenance and Construction; Collection; Treatment; and Recycled Water Operations. Pedro began working with the Otay Water District in 1988 as a Junior Civil Engineer and was steadily promoted within the Engineering Department, ultimately selected as the Chief of Water Operations. Pedro holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Northrop University in Los Angeles, and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources from San Diego State University. He is a registered professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. He holds a Water Distribution Grade 5 Certificate (D5) and a Water Treatment Operator Grade 2 Certificate (T2) with the California Department of Public Health, and a Collection System Maintenance Grade 4 Certificate with the California Water Environment Association. Mr. Porras has also published several articles in the American Society of Civil Engineering on water resources and is a member of several professional organizations including AWWA, CWEA, NSPE, and ASCE. |
