About Cuyamaca College

Part of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, Cuyamaca College has proudly served the diverse communities of East County since 1978. As a comprehensive education institution, the college offers both university transfer and career & technical education pathways, giving all students access to high-quality education.

The name “Cuyamaca,” from the Kumeyaay language means Are you standing behind the rain clouds?, likely a reference to the college’s location at the base of Mt. Miguel, one of highest points in San Diego County. To learn more, see our College History and Land Acknowledgment.

Cuyamaca offers nearly 200 degrees and certificates and serves over 13,000 students each year. With a student-centered approach, the college provides strong academic support and is committed to social justice, ensuring all students, regardless of background, have the resources they need to succeed in transfer and career pathways.
