Sociology
Sociology is the study of human relationships and institutions, and its subject matter
ranges from crime to religion and from family to state.
Transfer Degree
Cuyamaca College offers a Sociology for Transfer degree program that can lead to admission
at a California State University campus or other four-year colleges and universities.
The program is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of human interaction
and social structures, while offering an enlightened look at the social world in which
we live and how it shapes our lives. Upon completion of the program, students will
be able to – among other things – evaluate the implications of multicultural diversity
and global interdependence and evaluate how societies work and how they could be changed
for the better.
Classes at Cuyamaca College range from Marriage, Family and Alternative Lifestyles to Contemporary Social Problems.
Careers
Most sociologists work in research organizations, colleges and universities, state
and local government, and consulting firms. Most jobs in the field require a master’s
degree or a Ph.D., and Cuyamaca College is a great, economical place to start. The
federal Bureau of Labor Statistics projects strong job growth in the field through
2022.
