English as a Second Language (Pre-ACP)

The English As A Second Language (ESL) program is a pre-academic and career pathway that accelerates language acquisition so that students are able to succeed in their academic goals and consider other Academic and Career Pathways by the end of their ESL courses.  The classes are designed to improve:

  • Reading Academic English
  • Writing Academic English
  • English Grammar
  • Listening
  • Speaking skills

Learning English will help students attain employment or pursue degree and certificate programs that use English as the language of instruction.

Mission

We believe that even though our ESL students may not sound like us or write like us, they have great intelligence and capacity. They can do so much more with the proper training in a much shorter time when we give them the opportunity. We strive to create unique and meaningful learning experiences that build upon the strengths and socio-cultural experiences of our diverse student population. Our courses are designed to prepare students for college courses and beyond. Our curriculum creates opportunities for students to work together and think, read, write, and speak in English. All the classrooms are comfortable learning environments where students can practice and advance their English language skills.
