Philosophy

paintThe Cuyamaca Child Development Center (CCDC) philosophy is built on the foundation of Child Growth and Development with the partnership between children, families, staff that is guided by best practices. The practice of the CCDC is play-based allowing children to explore open ended environments that are child centered. Children are seen as capable and given the flexibility and freedom to lead their own discoveries. We value the outdoor classroom and trust children to explore and take risks in natural environments. We value and validate children’s opinions, emotions, ideas and support children learning how to communicate. By empowering children to identify their emotions and express how they feel in socially productive outcomes.

Relationships with families are a crucial part of a child’s early learning experience. We practice continuity of care while children are in our program. We build relationships with each family and do our best to support the family as a whole. Parent validation of our program also ensures the success of each child.

We collaborate to integrate the widest spectrum of best teaching practices and curriculum. We provide an inclusive environment, which embraces and frames the unique qualities of each child. Teachers observe and plan support children's individual learning styles. We plan that children will have assisted discoveries, allowing the children to be the inventor of new ideas. We believe in messy play that supports the whole body. We focus on children’s learning domains and include materials in early literacy development, art, science, math, music, social, and motor skills.

"Families, children, and teachers working together to create an environment for Exploration, Education, and Enrichment!"
