Coyote DEN
The Coyote Dynamic Educators Network (DEN) is a campus-wide, interdisciplinary community of practice (CoP). The goals of this CoP are to leverage our diverse set of skills, strengths, and community wealth to help each other become the best teachers we can be. If you are interested in participating in this CoP, please complete the Coyote DEN interest form.
Who can participate?
All faculty at Cuyamaca College, including full-time and part-time faculty.
When will we meet?
Three times per semester from 4:00-6:00pm on the following Tuesdays: October 6, November 3, and December 1.
What will we do?
Our meetings will be structured in three parts:
- Connections: Meetings will open with light snacks, a community circle, and check-ins. Members will share their highs and lows since the last meeting, celebrate wins in their practice, or shout out amazing students.
- Best practice sharing: Each meeting, one member will present an equity-minded best practice, tip, or hack that is unique to their practice and something the whole group could adopt and integrate into their own classes. The idea here is to honor each member’s unique expertise and leverage it to improve our teaching across the campus.
- Project tunings and dilemma protocols: Each meeting, DEN will turn into a mini think tank as we help a member design a project/activity or solve a dilemma in their classroom. A “protocol” is an hour-long structured system for leveraging the wisdom of a group of educators to create resources and solve problems. It is an invigorating and transformative practice that has proven so effective in other communities of practice on campus.
Compensation:
- Two hours of non-classroom pay per meeting, or
- Two PD hours towards your flex obligation.
